Dr. Khazanchi after his masters in general surgery (1980) and plastic surgery (1983) from CMC Ludhiana, India joined All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi as Asst Professor. He completed his fellowship in microsurgery at the Microsurgery Research Centre, St. Vincent’s Hospital, Melbourne, Australia and rejoined All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi in 1988. He went on to become Professor & Head of Plastic Surgery in 1997. He left AIIMS in 1999 to join Sir Ganga Ram Hospital where he was Head of the department of Plastic & Cosmetic Surgery till recently. His major areas of interest are cosmetic surgery, reconstructive microsurgery, vascular malformations, replantation of amputated parts and head & neck reconstruction. He has more than 25 years of experience of teaching undergraduate and postgraduate medical students. He has conducted many workshops, symposia and also delivered many guest lectures in India and abroad . He was the Secretary General of 15th World Congress of the International Confederation for Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery (IPRAS 2009). He has undertaken twenty-two research projects, published more than 60 papers in national and international journals, contributed 4 chapters in textbooks and edited and authored a book on Plastic Surgery for General Surgeons. He is a member of many professional plastic, cosmetic and laser surgery associations, past president of Delhi State Chapter of Association of Plastic Surgeons.
